The new generation Aastra Enterprise Mobility Gateway offers an open, integrated solution for delivering mobility services to the enterprise marketplace - independent of their existing PBX communications platform. Companies can use the Enterprise Mobility Gateway to provide a secure mobile communication environment fully integrated with an existing corporate communications network.
Leveraging on the Aastra One Phone concept, the Enterprise Mobility Gateway also allows enterprises to smoothly migrate to the new age of business communication where mobile phones, fixed phones and VoIP phones are used interchangeably. With this system business users can experience seamless mobility including PBX and next generation services such as Corporate Directory Search, Personal Call Routing and Single Number Reach; across any device and any network.
The Aastra Enterprise Mobility Gateway is a cost-efficient enterprise mobility solution. The system can be used to centrally manage a global voice network. Using features such as dynamic least-cost routing, reporting and statistics ensures minimized calling costs and total cost control. Operational overhead is also minimized using offerings such as over-the-air client management, access to existing user directories and through the centralized web administration interfaces.
Based on open standards, the Enterprise Mobility Gateway can be easily integrated with existing PBX systems and serves as a flexible platform for next generation Unified Communication services.
The next generation Service Provider infrastructure (IMS) and the Aastra Enterprise Mobility Gateway solutions share a common architectural and protocol base (SIP), enabling a final solution in which all devices are SIP enabled across multiple access networks (Public IP, DSL, WiFi, PLMN etc). Such a solution truly enables the to leverage on its existing investments and ensure enhanced usage through compatibility with the Next Generation of Public communications infrastructure.
In a typical enterprise scenario, each employee will normally have one device that can utilize all the functionality in the corporate communications system as an integrated part of the shared, consolidated IP communications infrastructure. It can be a mobile phone, a PC client ("softphone"), a fixed phone or a laptop. It can handle voice only, or a number of voice and data applications. The functionality associated with each phone is tailored to the specific needs of each employee.
The Enterprise Mobility Gateway solution has been designed to integrate smoothly into the existing communications networks with minimal infrastructure modifications and limited additional administration requirements.
The solution can be deployed either on site to serve enterprise end users within one single organization, or within a Service Provider environment to offer a managed service targeting multiple organizations at the same system.
In the Service provider deployed scenario each enterprise and the end user within the organization is provided their own web based self provisioning interfaces. This offers minimum administration for the service provider, while providing the required service control for the enterprise and their users.
As part of the solution Aastra's patented Mobile Extension Client makes the offering completely network independent, i.e. it requires no configuration changes to be involved from the Service Provider network infrastructure. This allows the solution to be used from any location, including when the enterprise users are roaming away from their home network. This facility is achieved by the intelligent re-routing of calls based on application logic installed in the mobile phone.
On the enterprise side the solution connects to existing PBX solutions using standard PRI interfaces. Using these open interfaces allows integration to any standard PBX.
