Neonlite is one of the top three energy-saving light bulb
manufacturers in the world with its headquarters in
Hong Kong and factories established in Fujian Province in
mainland China. With 3000 employees based in both
China and Hong Kong, an effective and flexible
communications network was essential.
Customer Requirement
Neonlite needed to improve routing of calls to representatives traveling
in China from its main offices in Hong Kong.
With management and technical staff traveling, or dividing
their time between two separate locations, calls from
Neonlite’s international customer base were often unable
to reach key personnel in the field.
The company needed to develop a solution connecting operatives in China with
the larger company network in order to respond quickly to its customers.
Ericsson Solution
Ericsson designed a VoIP network for Neonlite utilizing
some of the latest products from Ericsson’s Enterprise
range, including Ericsson Mobile Extension, MD110
Convergence Communication System, BusinessPhone,
Operator Work Station, Integrated Trunk Gateway and
WebSwitch 2000.
Ericsson’s design included the architecture for the main site in Xiamen with 60 registered
Mobile Extension users, as well as the VoIP network,
making it a truly comprehensive solution. This centralized
infrastructure, connected to Fujian Mobile Communications
Company (FJMCC), delivers huge savings in operation.
The contact numbers of traveling Neonlite staff were
registered as Mobile Extension numbers of the PBX in
Neonlite’s Xiamen facility. Using Mobile Extension,
Neonlite employees can make use of conference calls,
call back, call transfer and office extension functions on
the move.
Customer Benefits
- Instant access to employees in transit
- Improved response time for customers
- Cost savings
The company was able to make considerable
international call savings as well as savings on internal
calls between the four Neonlite sites. More importantly,
customers can now enjoy instant contact with Neonlite’s
operatives wherever they are, using one number.
Cheng Gang, Director of Marketing & Business
Development Division, Ericsson, describes how the
relationship developed: “Ericsson’s latest IP products and
unique Mobile Extension feature were able to meet and
exceed Neonlite’s expectations. They were satisfied with
the solution when it was demonstrated within the Ericsson
network. The General Manager expressed his immediate
eagerness to deploy IP, mobility and integrated
application products. Neonlite also became Ericsson’s
first Mobile Extension customer in mainland China.”
